What is Spiritual Psychology?

camels.jpg

Many thoughtful, intelligent people feel drawn toward spirituality — but hesitate because they don’t want to abandon their critical thinking, psychological awareness, or sense of groundedness.

The good news is: you don’t have to.

Spiritual psychology honors what is sacred in our lives alongside our modern understanding of our psyche and our universe. It allows us to explore spiritual experience in a grounded way.

This work draws from depth psychology, contemplative practice, and modern spiritual thinkers like Carl Jung and Pema Chödrön, alongside the enduring wisdom found in traditions associated with figures like the Buddha, Christ, and the Sufi poets.

There is nothing you are required to believe. No dogma to adopt. Nothing to perform. Instead, this is a space to explore what spirituality means to you, heal spiritually and emotionally, and make sense of profound experiences without judgement.

Why does spiritual psychology work so well?

Spiritual psychology honors the wisdom of sacred experience alongside the clarity of modern psychology.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, spiritual psychology works with a wide range of non-ordinary states of consciousness including awakening experiences, archetypal energies, as well as medicine work. While there may be overlap with therapy, many clients seek to integrate experiences that go beyond mainstream psychology.

Unlike most religions or spiritualities, spiritual psychology doesn't force a worldview or ask you to change your beliefs. Rather, it combines ancient wisdom with our modern understandings of the mind and our emerging scientific understanding of the cosmos.

Is this right for you?

This approach tends to resonate with two groups of people:

1) Thoughtful Beginners
Maybe you're curious about meditation or spiritual practice but unsure where to begin. You may identify as secular, agnostic, or simply questioning — yet feel there is more to explore.

2) Experienced Seekers or Practitioners
You may have been engaged in spiritual practice for years. You’ve read the books, sat the retreats, perhaps worked with plant medicine or other modalities — yet certain emotional patterns or wounds still feel unresolved. Or that "Aha!" moment has yet to click.

In both cases, the work is about awakening to your true Self and embodying a new way of being in your every day life.

"Will you try to convince me of anything?"

IMG_7819.jpeg

No.

Do I need to be religious?
No.

Do I need to believe in spirituality?
No.

Can I work with you if I'm atheist or agnostic?
Yes.

In fact, my own spiritual journey was rooted in a naturalistic worldview.

Do you work with psychedelic experiences?

Yes.

I do not offer or push people to use psychedelics but I do offer preparation for and integration after psychedelic medicine work.

Is this therapy?

No.

There is overlap but spiritual guidance should not be used as a replacement for mental health therapy, especially when clinical significant issues are present.

Do you work with people outside New Orleans?

Yes.

I work with people from Austin, Seattle, Phoenix, and many other cities in and outside the U.S.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes.

There's no fee and no pressure or obligation to sign up.

You don't have to figure it out alone.

Many people come to me not because they want a spiritual teacher to direct them, but because they want someone to walk beside them on their journey.

Instead of having to perform enlightenment, they want a sacred space where being human is allowed.

Maybe you've been trying to find someone you can trust to go deeper. Or maybe you're looking for a fresh perspective on an old mystery.

Either way, I'm glad you found your way here.
