Spirituality
Grounded in Psychology
OK, what's the deal?

Let’s face it, spirituality is a loaded word. It brings up everything from New Age pyramid schemes, to backyard shamans, and to thoughts of Sky Daddy frowning at all your sexual choices. It’s hard to find a modern-day doorway to spiritual experience that feels safe, grounded, and authentic.
The good news is, there are ways to connect with the sacred without abandoning your critical thinking skills or going full monk.
Pyscho-spiritual guidance is a way of exploring spiritual experiences that’s grounded in psychology. It draws on modern spiritual thinkers like Carl Jung, Alan Watts, Pema Chödrön, along with more traditional spiritual luminaries like Rumi, the Buddha, and Christ (but like, in the good way).
There’s no Kool-Aid to drink, no gurus to bow to, and nothing that you’re expected to believe. Instead, it’s about exploring what spiritual means to you, and making sense of non-ordinary states of consciousness that may come up in meditation, psychedelics, or that time you were just looking at a random tree and the world suddenly "made sense."
But... Does it actually work?
Yes, it works.

Sometimes it works better than regular therapy. Especially for non-clinical existential / spiritual issues. Let's face it, just talking for weeks or months sometimes gets us nowhere. That's because it's difficult to drop below our thinking mind and get to those emotional, embodied, and unconscious parts of ourselves.

Psycho-spiritual guidance uses techniques that help us access these deeper regions of our being and release stuck energy and emotion. By going to the core of the issue, we can release old messages & burdens we took on about ourselves (thanks a lot mom/dad) and take in the nourishing and life-affirming energy we need.

Is this right for me?
This way of working is ideal for two kinds of people:
1) Beginners / Skeptics who have some or no experience with spiritual practices ("Meditation? I've heard of that...") or folks who are secular / agnostic / atheist-but-curious.

2) Intermediate-Advanced spiritual seekers or even other guides/practitioners who have been on the path for 3+ years, but still find themselves getting stuck or contracting around old wounds. ("I've taken a lot of [favorite psychedelic] and I meditate four hours a day, but I still feel like I'm not enough...")

What happens in 1-on-1 sessions?
There are many ways to do psycho-spiritual work. The ways I work depends on what a person needs at that stage of their journey. But I do have some specialities that I find work well:

-
Meditation and light trance to drop beneath the thinking mind
-
Parts work to identify, speak with, and let go of old energies stuck in the body
-
Ancestral healing to release trans-generational or cultural wounds and burdens
-
Integration after ceremonial medicine work or psychedelic experience
-
Light Work a playful, heart-based form of consciousness transmission to help open up to spiritual awakening / non-dual awareness (not as woo-woo as it sounds, I promise).

Other modalities I use include Jungian Shadow Work and Active Imagination, ritual ordeals / hero's journeys, existential exploration, psychodrama, and more.

Sessions are 60 minutes long and can be done over Zoom or in person at my home office in New Orleans.

I'm sold. How do I get started?
Awesome sauce. Let's get to know each other to see if we'll be a good fit. It'll also be a chance for me to hear where you're at in your journey.
